after u put synthetic in for the first time i would change it after 1000 miles because it will probably clean up some stuff in the motor and will probably be pretty black pretty fast. you dont have to do it but its just my opinion

on every bottle of synthetic oil it says how much better it cleans up than conventional oil. i was at a royal purple seminar like 6 months ago and someone asked the guy the same question as the OP. his answer was it was fine to do it but he recommends changing it after the first 1000 miles for the first time

If you have had regular oil changes (3000-6000), I don't see why you would need to change it after 1000 for the first synthetic change. The purpose of using synthetics is its increasing lubrication and durability, which includes containing contaminants, thereby reducing engine wear.

My '04 G35X manual says not to use synthetic. Don't know why.

I think the biggest reason you should change the oil about 1000 miles after you put synthetic in is due to the fact you were using regular oil before, and when you add synthetic, you will cross contaminate the two. After a bit of normal driving, drain the oil and add new synthetic in to make sure thats all ur engine has in it....just my two cents I've seen and/or read about when I use Amsoil Syn.

nah, if cross contamination was an issue you would flush it and not even drive it a K miles. After all, they do make synthetic blends.
