what really happens when adding an exhaust ? i know it give u more hp and better air flow and what not .. but is it really woth spending the two to three hundred for exhausts? if so .. anyone know some good ones that don't make to much a street noise ? i want that race feel .. but not so loud i'll make my neighborhood . def .. there is this guy across teh street and his %*^% is loud and pisses the hell out of a lot of people .. ha

A complete system upgrade would include a cold air intake, ported/polished throttle-body, extrude-honed intake manifold, ported/polished/matched head, headers, high-flow cat, and a cat-back exhaust system. The benefit of the entire system described above is greater than the sum of its parts, as these things working together produce a synergistic effect. It is not really worth the effort to upgrade only one item, unless you add another, then another, and so on. The more of these you add, the more power will be released, as your engine will breathe better. You'll also note an improvement in your gas mileage. You'll also notice a deeper/louder exhaust note. so where can i find a system like this and how much will it run to purchase and install ? my friend said flowmaster system was good .. but does a dual exhaust look good on a g35

A Flowmaster or Magnaflow exhaust actually gives pretty good performance numbers for the price. 5-8 added Hp to the ground may not seem like much, but compared to the other name brands, you'll be saving a lot more $$$. Besides that, most of the other brands don't even perform as well. You often have to spend in excess of +$500 to get the same results. They're also not as loud.

However, they do have their drawbacks....they're not the most attractive looking pieces of metal.

 

From what I see, it appears as if the aftermarket guys are still scrambling to perfect products for our G's. I think you can find various parts now, but it's still a little early... unless the stuff off of JDM Skylines will fit our cars. It may be a year or more before reliable power-adding parts are available from good US aftermarket sources. It'd be nice...
