Cast in light weight alloy and then NC precision machined, the APS plenum pumps-up the internal plenum volume and delivers the optimum distribution of air to each inlet trumpet. With dead true NC machined mating faces, the APS Tall-Boy is a direct bolt-on replacement of the stock plenum and utilizes the stock gasket. All ancillary hardware for easy installation (in under an hour) is included. The APS plenum will be released, if all goes to plan, towards the end of November and will be on display at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. Best estimate on the MSRP is approx $375 and NO oem plenum deposit or swap required. Availability mid September 04.

Re: APS Plenum
This might be the best plenum yet. Little chance of cracking or warpage...and you keep the stock unit. One place on the site said it'll be released for sale in November--so sometime in the next few months anyway.
Also, the SSR plenum looks very promising, but I suspect that it can radically change the airflow. That means it's best if you live right next to Technosquare or you have an eManage unit with A/F monitoring already installed--especially the first guys who install the SSR.

Re: APS Plenum
That looks AWESOME. Here's why...
1. It uses SIX (6) mounting points like the stock plenum
2. It is "apparently" cheaper than Crawford and Kinetix
3. Precision NC machining can hit tolerances of +/- 0.010" easily so no more warping problems
4. There is no chance of weld BB's breaking lose and getting sucked into the engine.
5. There is no chance of a lose screw backing out and getting sucked into the engine.
6. You get to keep your stock plenum
7. Fit and finish will look much better than Crawford
8. Powder coat is still a viable option
I think that am going to start encouraging people to stop buying the Crawford plenum and wait until this thing comes out. This looks perfect and I really wished that I had one right now!
Way to go APS, who ever you are...
[edited statement] I just saw that this plenum was designed to fit the 350Z. Since there is no dip in the front, like the Kinetix, I wonder if there is as much volume under the plenum as the Crawford? [end of edited statement]
The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!
Edited by neffster on 07/21/04 11:11 AM.

Re: APS Plenum
I am sure this is a minor thing but the picture does not show a AUX vacuum port for Supercharger applications.

Re: APS Plenum
I'll be purchasing one, installing it, then trading my Crawford even steven for someone's stock plenum so I can have it as backup and when it comes time to sell or trade....of course not until after Neffster has reviewed the product first.

Re: APS Plenum
Crawford did away with those forward bolts/post's to improve flow.
I'll quote Doug at Crawford,
"The bolts we provide for the lower plenum have green loctite put on them before we ship them to you that way they won't come out of the lower plenum. I have had them in mine for 5 months now and no problems. We don't put the long bolts with spacers in the sides because of air flow considerations. Also if you look at the lower plenum there are several bolts allready there to hold the center gasket down."
[end quote]
The APS site has a lot better pic of their pleneum, the one above looks about a shallow as the oem pleneum, go to their web site to see a pic from a better angle, it is tall overall.

Re: APS Plenum
IT's made for the Z, but if you have a strut tower brace, you must find a higher one they said to use the plenum. So it has equal air in all ports.

Re: APS Plenum
this is probalby taller than the kinetix as you need a new strut bar on the Z. which is great news for the G. its practically designed for us already.

Re: APS Plenum
I called Austalia just now and spoke with one of the reps there and he said that they hadn't really thought about making mods for G35's cuz they didn't think there was a market for them. I explained to him that it would def benefit him to take a look at this site and he'd see that the market IS here. I was lobbying for a TT kit as well as other mods they currently make for the 350Z.
