Wife's G35... VDC Off, SLIP, and Service Engine Soon Lights All On!

Hey there,

My wife has a 2002.5 G35 sedan with ~ 122K miles.

When I started up my wife’s car after dinner tonight, these lights came on the dashboard:

• Service Engine Soon
• SLIP
• VDC Off

When I put it in gear and attempted to accelerate, the RPM’s increased by ~ 200 and I moved forward like I was basically coasting with the accelerator mashed to the floor.

I pulled the car over, turned it off, and then went through this same routine 2 more times.

Then on the third attempt… The SLIP and VDC Off lights went off—but the Service Engine Soon light remained on—and the car drove normally all the way home.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Clint

Sounds like a bad TPS. You will have to replace the throttlebody. I worked at an Infiniti dealer for 5 years, and we would see several a month.

Is it something that can be "cleaned?"

Looking to go the cheapo right... Might be trading in the car soon.

Thanks!

You most likely need a new throttle body. They are around $110-$150 for a re manufactured unit and gasket (+ install if you're not a DYI kind of guy).

Although you'll need to scan for codes (go to pep boys) to be sure what the issue is.
