Pros vs. Cons on Helix pipes

What are the ups and down on the helix pipes for the sedan? Anyone have them with dyno sheets? Any info would be appreciated.

Re: Pros vs. Cons on Helix pipes

I was just about to post on this subject.. I just got the helix test pipes last weekend.. I like the performance gain that I got from them and my car sounds much better with them along with my borla exhaust. The only thing that you WILL get some raspiness at about 3k rpm. Its not that bad if you dont do hard acceleration but if you like a quite ride all the time then these arent for you.
Does anyone know why they rasp at 3k rpm and not really at any other rpm?

I just put in my Borla exhaust and XERD test pipe's yesterday. The car sounds SOSOOS mean with absolutely no rasp... I was going with helix but heard that XERD were much better. I love it..

I think the cats are the same for the sedan/coupe/z. So the test pipes would work for all as well.

Yea these were for the coupe, so he said he had to check. He got back to me and said they're all the same! I bought them for $179.. Truely amazing with Borla!

Re: Pros vs. Cons on Helix pipes

Comes as a surprise to me to see NY license plate on "off-road" vehicle, Martin

Seriously, I think those of you putting on test pipes and than posting here with your dynos that display your License plate numbers are making a big mistake. All it takes is a pissed off troll making a phone call to 1-800-exhaust and you're in deep trouble. Something to think about.

Plus are those 7whp really worth emissions going up 10 times or more?

What are you some sort of tree-hugger? Just kidding! :>

I'm still in the air between getting high flow catalytic converters or test pipes...

Re: Pros vs. Cons on Helix pipes

I don't mean to be a dork but does anyone know how much of a negative impact test pipes have on the environment? Do they really produce that much extra pollution? I'm not even close to a green peace member but I'd rather not put on test pipes if they really do pollute that much. If the difference is negligible then I want them but if not probably go hi-flow instead. I enjoy my G a lot but I would like to continue enjoying my local forest as well. Re: Pros vs. Cons on Helix pipes

Catalytic Converters do A LOT to cut down pollution. One vehicle isn't going to make a difference, but if evert vehicle lacked them we'd probably all have some disease by now.

To me it's not worth it, your car smells like fumes, if the windows are open then your cabin begins to get the smell (in stop and go traffic); the fact that it's a criminal offense, and the environmental issues.

It is cool though, if you get on it hard enough flames can spit out of your exhaust; depending on the rest of your exhaust system.

Re: Pros vs. Cons on Helix pipes

Before everyone comments about the flames, you'd need a lot of power and a pretty simple exhaust. A twin-turbo G35 with test-pipes, no resonators, and a simple straight-through muffler could do it.

Stock not.
