The last year of the g35, 2007, does it have 298 hp? or 306hp?

5AT will shift right about redline. If you shift at redline you will be in the power curve when it gets to the next gear. It allows you to stay in the power curve the entire time that you are accelerating.
As for the 2007 Sedan, it has a 306 HP motor which is the HR motor (7500 redline).
The 2007 Coupe has the REVUP motor which redlines at 7000.
Peak HP will also be changed with some mods. You can boost the Peak HP further up the RPM range. Tuning also is very beneficial.

Chances are they might have even just 'said' it only still produces 298hp @ 6400rpms when it really was pushing out 306hp at 6800rpms.
There's plenty of auto manufacturer's out there who don't feel like giving the true numbers for one reason or another.
Max hp at 6400 rpms, and I'd have said redline was either 6500 to 6800 rpms. With max hp at 6800 rpms, I'm going to have to say redline is at 6900 to 7100 rpms.
Just having some conversation.

who is this guy? You believe everything you read off cars.com?

Damn almost 1000 rpms away from max hp, really makes my mind boggle.
Just as a reference, in 2006 RSX it was stated to have 155 hp, when it was really 160hp. (Type S has 210, but was stated to only have 201!) So it's possible the last 35 coupe could have been tweaked without trying to tell anyone.

Look at my dyno graph shown. Now, please don't ask why it "only" put down 246hp and not 298....that will only make you look ignorant (and I mean that in its true definition).
I realized in this dyno graph that the OEM tachometer is about 400 RPM's faster than the actual engine speed, which is the reason I accidentally shifted at ~6900 RPM (I usually shift at 7300 or so when on the track). So the "Redline" you are talking about isn't even a TRUE redline, just a color on a dial.
Regardless, my peak HP occurs at 6000 RPM and peak TQ at ~4400 RPM. If I shift at 7300 RPM HP is around 235 to the wheels and the RPMs will drop to around 5k or so. At 5k the plot is showing ~215 hp. Now, If I were to shift at 6k (peak HP) I am making 245 hp and the engine would drop to around 4k. HP at 4k is 175 and I have a long way to make up. Area under the curve is what you are going for.
