What are the symptoms of failing piston rings on our G's?????

I recently went through a compression test and my 03 6mt sedan scored: Left side starting from rear towards front cylinder 110, 110, 91 and right side was 95, 85, 80!!! And oem levels need to be ranging from 110-125 for our VQ'S. At the shop i went to they said im going to need piston rings and to take it to the dealer ASAP. I really didnt believe it, so then they also ran a leak down test and it scored red meaning bad on all cylinders. So there actually was a leak somewhere. I've never abused my G since i've had it. My G currently has 69,000 miles and it feels normal to me. Although i do have an oil consumption issue and yes its the VQDE not the REV-up. But i always made sure the oil level was where it needs to be. So if my piston rings are really failing, what are the symptons if there is any? Your personal imput is extremely appreciated. I will visit riverside as soon as i can.

Probably the reason, at least in part, to your oil consumption. If the compression test shows low #'s like yours is...especially on the right bank, you are not getting the power output from the motor like you should be.

Stock warranty for powertrain is 5 yr. 70K miles. If you are still within warranty I would take it to the dealer.

Dam...Well its been 6 years since 2003 and im under 70,000 miles still. I purchased my G at a nissan dealer and extended my powertrain warranty till 2011 or 100,000 miles. So i hope it works out.

Regarding the OC issue on my G, i found out about it since way before i had the blower on. I remember changing the oil my self and very little oil would come out. It had me thinking like, dam wth happened to the rest of the oil. At that time i didnt know about this sight and this is where i found that some G's had an OC issue and that we needed to chk our oil level constantly. But then that just appied to REV-UPS. But by the time i found out about the OC issue i had the blower on. So i kept my oil levels correct at all times even though my G was never my DD. And yes i did notice a more of a Oc issue with the blower, but like i said previously i never abused my G because i knew i was going to stick with it for a while so i wanted it to be in top shape. So the OC issue was since way before. Im thinking maybe during the time that i didnt know about it consumming oil all this happened. But my G feels normal though. Thats what is strange.

Take it in for warranty asap! You should have taken it in as soon as you noticed there was a OC issue.

There reason I asked if you ever had a supercharger (thinking you might have since you had the hood) is because of the chance of running a lean condition, which could have contributed to the piston ring damage.

Its too late to deal with Stillen regarding potential cause from super charger… so I guess its all a moot point – I was just curious to know about the SC thinking it might have caused your problem initially.

I thought that to. The good thing is that im going to return my simple bolt ons to stock and take it to the dealer and see what happens there. You guy's imput and concerns are really appreciated. I havent yet heard of any g's with vq35de's getting replaced with new engines yet regarding a OC issue. Or have some ?

VQDE (but revups)... you can try to see if they will honor that... I'm not sure if there is an actual TSB, but if there is print it and take to your dealer...
