Dave should clarify. Wouldn't want anyone doing an N drop by mistake.

Whats up guys, Sorry for bringing up and old thread, but i myself have an 06 G35 Coupe 5AT and i am wondering. If i used the technique described above to launch, how is holding the brake different from just dropping it into D from N? I want a good launch but i don't want to break my trans...

Don't drop it into D from N - that will shock the trans and likely cause problems.

Turn off the VDC and you might consider doing the full disable mod.

There were a lot of discussions related to the ECU cutting throttle electronically when the brake and gas pedals were both depressed. I don't remember if this was confirmed or not.

ECU only lets TB open 10% when brake is applied.

DO NOT Do a Neutral Drop, you will Kill your Torque Converter

While in Manual Mode or Drive have VDC off, Hold the Brake and Gas to 2k-3k and then let go of the brakes.

Its heats up your fluid so don't hold it for long

1) high stall torque converter
2) a tune
3) sprint booster

Not much you can do. A new TC would be the most noticeable option and a tune may help slightly. Never used a sprint booster before but others say they work.

Also, at this age of vehicle, you may want to go to Autozone and have them pull any stored codes. You could have a bad/cooked knock sensor harness (or something) and not even know it if it's not lighting your SES. It's free and painless to see if anything is stored.
