NISMO Thermostat

I did a search and did not find anything...a member on here recommended the NISMO T Stat, who has used one, what did you think, would you get it again and who has the best prices on them? I searched the vendor section but did not see anyone selling that specific item.

Thanks!

search on my350z. you'll find more ppl over there who've switched out their t-stats. they go for about $125 new and rarely show up in the marketplace.

u don't have to log in to view their forum, but you might as well create an account over there. if you're at the point where you're considering a low-temp t-stat, you're bound to want to read up more on that site.

Save your $$

Apparently that's $125= you don't need to spend according to the guys at MY350Z. It gets a little warm here too and I don't have over heating issues, if I did I buy a Mishimoto aluminum radiator and a new thermostat.

Thanks for the referral to Everything G35; do you have one and if so did you think it was a waste for a bolt on G35?

Gary-I agree with you, no one on the 350 site thinks they are worth it.

I have one and for a boosted car, especially in the desert I can tell a difference in my coolant temps. I have a gauge that I monitor almost everytime I drive.

I can understand it helping with a FI application, not sure it helps on a NA car.

Yeah for NA I definitely would say it isn't needed. You shouldn't need any cooling mods at all for NA.

Stay away from the NISMO T-stat. It opens at 154* where the dual electric fan t-stat opens at 170*. It will only help in preventing your car from heating up to normal causing more bad than any possible good.. T-stats are normally only functional in helping the engine heat up to operating temperature.

If you have an early 2003 it opens at 180*. You can swap to a 350Z or 2004.5 thermostat.

Thanks for the heads up, I have an 07 so no issues with what the early 03's had.

Why are these so popular if they do more harm than good? Is this just a good thing for the FI guys?

for FI guys...

Really, There is no sense though. Once the T-stat is open it remains open during operating temperatures. Normal operating temps are between 190-200*. Unless you have upgraded the cooling system a lot, I doubt the 154* stat will give you any benefit FI either.
