spark plugs

whats up guys. so i changed my oil the other day, and while the oil was draining i was looking around my engine and i found the coil packs for the spark plugs. comparing it to my previous e36m3 it really looks like a lot of work to actually get to the coil packs. so i mean is there a easy way to get them so i can change them out myself, or should i save time and just have the dealer do it, which i really dont like haveing them work on my car. what do i need or dont need to remove to get to them. has any one changed them out them selves yet?

gg

Re: spark plugs

Do you have a problem with your G or are you just wanting to play with the motor?

Re: spark plugs

My question also.

Changing plugs is something you have to worry about what, every 50K miles?

I think that may be worth a weekend project once every 5 or 10 years.

Re: spark plugs

no problem with the g i was just wondering because it looks like you have to take apart or loosen alot of things to get to the coil packs. id rather change them out myself when its time to change them rather than having the dealer do it, you know what i mean.

Re: spark plugs

I've changed out my plugs. the coil packs aren't that hard to get to. i think i had to remove a bracket and that it. the plugs are easy to get to on this engine.

Re: spark plugs

DED,

I like the tag after your name... it fits you well .

You do realize that some people actually DRIVE their cars on a daily basis. You being ~ 2 miles from work is not the norm. I believe the national average is between 12,000 and 15,000 miles per year.

oh yeah...and you still owe me a beer too!

(whispering quietly so DED cannot hear me) I wonder how long he'll keep falling for that "you still owe me a beer" trick?

The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!

Re: spark plugs

Good to hear that you have no issues...just wanting to know for the future how to cut the dealer out. I like the idea.
