Locked out! Twice

1. I start my 04.5 AT sedan and have to go back inside the house to get something I forgot. Come back out to get back in the car and it is locked.... and running. Luckily I am at the house and I just went back in and got my spare key and was able to be on my way.

2. Im at a friends house to take them to pick up their car at the local garage. I have turned the car off and lay the keys in the drivers seat. Come back out a few minutes later and cant get in the G. This time since I am not at home near the spare key and I have to call the Infiniti Roadside Assistance. An hour later they arrive and let me in.
Car has 3500 miles on it.

What is happening here?

Re: Locked out! Twice

My dealership gave me a wallet key that opens my doors in case something like that happens. I'm surprised you don't have one as well.

Re: Locked out! Twice

- is it possible you touched the door lock button on exiting?
I remember this happening b4.

If not, then have the service shop check out the BCM with their Consult II, for a possible fault.

Until you resolve the issue, carry the spare plastic wallet key so you don't get stuck again.(Only for opening the door)- or even a spare key or remote.

Talked to Grubbs this morning. Taking it in on Monday. Person I spoke to had never heard of this happening before.
I will let you know what they say.

Re: Locked out! Twice

I don't recall, but doesn't the car auto-lock the doors after some time? In any case, you should have got a wallet key the the same box as your manual to avoid this problem.

Re: Locked out! Twice

The auto lock feature only works when the cars was locked and unlocked via remote control but no door were open. I test it out everytimes and never have any problem with it. Unless your 2004.5 has other feature then you might have a faulty device.

Re: Locked out! Twice

My best advice would be to change your habits. Why would you ever leave your car unattended with the keys in it? If you pull the key out of the ignition why leave it on your seat? You just pulled the key out and it's in your hand, might as well carry the keys with you. I don't know where you live but leaving your keys in your car is just begging someone to steal it. Just my two cents.

Where besides the dealer can you get a wallet key and how much do they cost?

Re: Locked out! Twice

The wallet key should have been included free with your G35.

I was responding to coleb HipHop. It didn't sound like you do what he does.

Re: Locked out! Twice

This has happened to many of us in the past ... including myself. While some people refuse to believe it, there's no gremlims hiding and locking the doors while you're away Blame it on a slightly poorly chosen location and design of the door lock. Many of us pull the lever and simulatneously push the door outwards when exiting. The pushing motion somtimes includes the door lock flicked into engagement. I finally caught myself doing it a couple of times. It hasn't happened in a longggg time.

Re: Locked out! Twice

Just have to say...

"Baby I'm locked up, they won't let me out no, they wont let me out, Baby I'm locked up..."

The above statements are only my take on the issue. If you disagree with anything I typed then you are 100% right!

Re: Locked out! Twice

skeleton,

Fortunately, when I step back inside and leave it running, theft is not a problem around me. Two of our citys finest live two houses away.

When the keys were left in the seat my car was in their garage with the door closed. I felt pretty safe leaving them there.
