This cant be good... Coolant/Antifreeze
OEM coolant (with the proper dilution) is good to at least -32 degrees F. I doubt that was the problem.
My guess would be a crack in the radiator or a corroded hose with a small leak.

UPDATE: I found my car under a hill of snow, once I got the hood open (battery was frozen, no power to the car) I discovered it was PACKED from the ground up with ice and snow, I just got the parts I needed (fusible link broke on the positive battery cable) and got the car cranked over and running, I am now waiting for it to defrost itself so I can actually see into the engine bay... There is A LOT of a green/brown fluid under my car most of it is slush (its warm today 29*F). Its been running for about 25min now, the last time I checked the temp gauge was reading in the normal temp range. I am thinking if I can get the car and engine defrosted I should be able to trouble shoot it tomorrow...
I have not, I am just waiting for the snow/ice to melt of out the engine bay. Literally PACKED from the ground to the hood line.
when you fire it up... pay attention both outside and inside the car.
make sure there is nothing immediately gushing/coming out...
then make sure it doesnt over heat while driving to a shop if you can do this yourself.
BUT THE FIRST STEP IS TO FILL THE FLUID UP BEFORE DOING ANYTHING.....LOL

Got the car into a buddies garage, its leaking from the bottom of the radiator, and the back of the ?engine? somewhere?
EDIT: Forgot to mention that the temp guage wont go above the Half way mark between HOT and COLD no matter how long I let it idle

I believe the freeze plugs are on the back side of the motor.
Also, your car will be ok for a short period of time depending on where the size and location of the leak. My radiator was leaking but I was able to make a 30 min trip to the house without causing the temperatures to spike at all...long enough to get it safely home and replace.

im looking at page 153 in the 2005.5 fsm in the engine mechanical section. They are all threaded plugs, and in the 3.5yrs and hundreds of 3.5's ive seen, ive never ever seen the freeze plugs leak
