Question UR pulleys

how would one go about figuring out if a pulley/pulley bearing is going bad? I tend to get a squeaky belt, not so sure it's the belt, so i would like to check the pulley....?

thanks all

Pulley is bad when it squeeks consistently. It happens when the belt is trying to escape the broken piece of your pulley, aka the guide. Visual inspection should confirm.

The belts only squeak when the car is started after a couple of hours of non use. so during start-ups and when it's cold.

Jackus can you explain what i could look for to see if the pulley has gone bad?

Thanks again

you might just need to tighten up on the belts

yea your belt is either loose or just needs to be replaced.

So i can see that the pulley is 'dry' and i assume it squeals until the metal warms up....

What type of grease/lube should i add to the pulley for some smooth operation?

Do not put anything on your belts to stop sqeaking. I would suggest taking the pulley off and putting anti sieze lube on it. I used white lithium grase, works fine.
