differential oil change(done)

so i changed the diff oil change on my 06 g35 coupe. The problem is...my car wasnt level when i filled in the diff. the rear wheels were raised.
Before even i was done with first bottle,1qt, it started to leak... wth..
i hope it's because the car wasn't raised level. So i just kept on pumping. i fnished with the first bottle even though it leaked. For the 2nd bottle, i didn't put much in. i just kept on pumping untill i saw it leaking.
After that, i lowered the car and started the engine. Idle it for 5~10 mins and smoke started to come out of the muffler. i'm not sure the smoke is from just the car warming up or somethin wrong with the diff- like i put in too much fluid..

HELP ME

That wouldn't cause smoke to come out your mufflers on Les you spilled oil somewhere on your exaust.

If you were using a 1qt bottle it should not have overflowed after just one; it should take about 1.5 qts. Did you drain ALL of the gear lube out of the bottom drain of the diff? Where was it 'leaking' from? I'm having a hard time picturing what you did here.

With the car level, if you take the top lug out you should be able to crook a finger inside & downward and touch clean lube. If you've done it properly, you can just drive the car normally, not sure where you heard the 'don't press on the gas' bit.

i think it overflowed b4 i finished first bottle because it wasn't leveled. i drained it from the drain plug. i took out the fill pulg b4 unscrewed the drain plug. i drained untill it dropped drops not in a line. Never mind about leaking i meant overflowing.

Sounds like you're fine, but if it were me I'd do the little check I suggested to make sure the level is up close to the fill plug.

This is why I like having jackstands, you can get your car high enough to work under it and still keep things level. Though unless the back was REALLY high, it shouldn't have made a huge difference.

when the rear part was jacked up, the fill plug started to overflow after 1 bottle and lil bit of 2nd one. If i were to check the fill plug after jacking up the rear part again, then it would b same as i checked after putting in oil. So that means i have to check without the car jacked up.

what happens if i put litle oil and too much oil?

If he had the rear end of the car up in the air and it wasn't level then he had half a quart left in there and it didn't drain properly. The drain plug is toward the back of the vehicle. I'd do it over and try to level t he car this time.

Jack up the front, put it on solid wooden blocks, jack up the rear, put it on jackstands. Or buy 2 more jackstands, they're not too expensive. Or Rhino Ramps if your car is not too low to drive up on them. Lots of options.

Mine wasnt level, all I did was I backed my car up on rhino ramps, and I know I did everything right because almost exactly when I reached 1.5q, fluid started coming out of the fill hole
