Oil consumption

Oil consumption
Hey everyone,
I know this subject has been covered far too many times. I have a few questions for the seasoned G drivers that have been through the same issue. I recently took part in an oil consumption test, at approximately 1,200 miles I returned to my local dealer. They pulled the dipstick to reveal 24 mm of oil showing, approx. 3+ quarts low. A leak down test was performed showing 2-4%, which I'm told is within factory spec.
I was told that the oil consumption is due to the car being driven hard, oil is being pulled in through the intake. I am questioning this for two reasons. One, I find it hard to believe a car, no matter how hard it is driven, could possibly consume over 3 quarts in a little over 1,000 miles. Two, I am a spirited driver, but I do not drive it excessively hard. I digress, what had originally lead me to bring the car in was the excessive lifter ticking, at idle and under acceleration, even when the oil was topped off.
I am concerned there may be an issue in the top end of the motor, but I was told this is not the case. My warranty claim for service was denied. This was relayed to me through someone I trust, but I'm not sure that the tech's relaying the information to that person are trustworthy sources. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I have the base model and my car goes through oil quickly. But, I do drive my car fairly hard sometimes. Don't have any visible leaks either. I'm taking mine to the dealer soon. I can understand the car burns through oil but as much as I put in every month, something doesn't seem right.

Don't go the any of the SD dealers. Kearny Mesa Infiniti told me my car burned oil due to my exhaust. Never went back. F-em.

What I find amusing is that I'm being told that the consumption is due to my driving habits. There is one main reason why I have a problem with the previous statement, I haven't changed my driving habits. If anything I don't drive quite as hard as when I purchased it, yet I've gone from consuming less than 1 quart per 3,500 miles to consuming 3+ in 1,200 miles. How does that work?

Sad to see Infiniti still denying that the oil consumptions issues exists. The G35 will be my last Infiniti I will ever own. Going back to Honda, Toyota. Heck, maybe even a Hyundai.
Way too many problems for 1 car to have. Yes, it looks nice, but under all that is a shlt load of problems.

Blaming OC on driving habits is pure bull ****! Infiniti/Nissan is totally aware of the issues with the '05+ Revup motors and their poor quality piston rings. Give Nissan a call letting them know you've been thru the OC test and how much oil your Infiniti is using along with the excuse the dealership gave you. Or find another dealership and start over....

Some additional details...
I'm out of factory warranty, this is an aftermarket warranty. It is the dealership however, that relayed to the warranty company that the claim should be denied. It is not the "rev up" motor either.
The dealership claims they could not find any issues internally and they claim the oil is being sucked in through the air intake due to hard acceleration. My question is, if my driving habits have not changed, how is it possible that I have gone from nearly no oil consumption in 3,500 miles to such excessive amounts in 1,200 miles? In essence I'm being told that my car is consuming 3+ quarts of oil through the air intake and this is normal. This is a joke right?

aftermarket warranty from who? the one the dealership offers or different? if it's the one from the dealership then: i've heard that if you ask/threaten to have the district manager come in and inspect the problem, that they'll be more willing to help because they dont want the dist. man. crawling all over the dealership unprepared. Not sure how true it is, but it seems like a logical solution.
