^ Do your own engine flush if you really want it done. At your next oil change, just add a quart of ATF instead of oil and allow the car to idle for 20-30 mins and then do another normal oil change. Or, if you think it's really dirty, use a quart of diesel fuel. DO NOT LOAD the motor while you're doing this.

^^ Neg. Change your oil using 5.x quarts, x = whatever you need to be full. 1 of those quarts will be ATF (Auto Trans Fluid, mugen - car knowledge fail btw...) or diesel fuel. You should replace the filter also, to be safe. Allow the engine to idle for 20-30 minutes so the diesel/ATF can circulate through all the gallies, head, etc. DO NOT REV OR DRIVE! Drain and replace filter again, then add 5.x quarts of your usual oil. Most shops will charge about $100 for an engine flush, you should be able to do it for about 1/3 of that.

yea i did my research, Automatic tranny fluid,
the ATF appears to have a higher detergent level that cleans better. on a vehicle that has properly been maintained, this shouldn't be necessary. i usually used it for older vehicles that i bought that hadn't had the oil changed regularly. use a GOOD high quality oil of the type recommended.

Yeah. ATF has more detergent in it which is why some engine flush kits use it. They use a different name so you can spend $40 on what should be $8. Is it necessary? No. Not if you change your oil regularly. Will it hurt? No. Maybe some peace of mind, esp if you see a lot of chunky crap coming out during the drain.

Ive also Read,
U can pour it in there run the engine for 5-30mins and get an oilchange, engine oil needs to be hot by the oil change and have ran thru all the gallies by the time ur performing the oil change, to help all the gunk and sludge run out. I doubt my engine oil is that bad.
But it was pretty thick and dark last time.

Is it a good idea to change my oil type too? Cause it looks like mobil1 synthetic 5-30w isnt doing it for me?

Im considering castrol syntec 0-30w now...

I have never heard about the ATF, or anything else to clean the inside.

I would look further into it before doing it.

When I did my oil change, I dumped out all the oil from the drain plug, and I had like 1/4 a quart left of oil in my garage from another oil change so I put that in and let it drain out, it came out like it went in clean, so I don't see what atf or what not will do.

1. Hmm, ok. I guess since one person hasn't heard of something, it shouldn't be done. Google is your friend.

2. That didn't make any sense. I didn't know a drain plug contained oil.

1. Just a friendly warning.. nothing else just to tell them to check before doing it.

2. Oh really no way.

3. Cool

RP is a great oil for racing engines but not for street driven cars and it dosent meet the SAE clasification.

I agree.

Hearno, I'm not doubting your advice but it obvious that the OP doesn't know too much about cars. I don't think he should be putting ATF or diesel in his engine.

It tests out to be okay oil. But for the price it costs, IMHO, Amsoil is better. Better addtive package and I believe it tests better.

Just depends on how much you want to spend and what you want the oil to do. For basic NA protection there are many oils that are more than good enough for 1/2 the price.
