I need tires and it looks like our cars would be able to fit a 255 in the rear instead of 245, has anyone done this or know if it will fit? Should look better from the rear too,,,,, i sure hope so, let me know! thanks a lot!

i have 275/30-19's in the rear of my sedan on 9.5 wheels, there is no rubbing at all and you could def. go wider than a sedan!!

Stock wheels I assume? If that's the case, you can safely put 245/40s in front and 255/45s in back. You'll maintain the stagger, and reduce some of the understeer making for a more neutral handling car. Also the front 225/45s are hard to find.

Lou,
Are you running those sizes right now? If so, which tire brand and model?
Thanks.

Re: Will 255's fit in the rear with the 18" wheel,

No, I'm running 18" Nismo wheels with 245/40 and 275/40 Dunlop SP9000s. Dunlop makes the SP9000s in 245/40 and 255/45. IMO, it's the best price/performance ratio tire out there. For the stock 8" wide wheels those sizes would be the largest that would fit properly

Re: Will 255's fit in the rear with the 18" wheel,

I'm running 245/40 front and 255/45 rear and I really like it. I went for the Pilot Sport All Season tires, and they're really nice, but I won't argue with anyone who says sp9000 or Yokohama AVS dp2s are a better deal for the money. I found the function on tirerack.com for comparing tires very useful. Also I downloaded PDFs of the actual sizes from the manufacturers to compare the stager to OEM.

Re: Will 255's fit in the rear with the 18" wheel,

The yokohomas look like an awsome deal for the price, plus they atleast have a snow rating..... could i change just the rears for now, or will that cause problems???? thanks for the help!

Re: Will 255's fit in the rear with the 18" wheel,

I did just my rears and I think because the fronts were so bald (smaller diameter) the stagger was off too much and my VDC was kicking in a lot. At one point after railing aroung a corner it even disabled itself and I had the VDC, ABS and SLP lights stuck on and three different "Take you car to a dealer" messages on my NAV. It was all fixed by turning the car off and on again, but after that I only drove in straight lines until I got the front tires.
