Re: DVD
this topic has been discussed numerous times.
Simple answer, stock navi cannot play dvd-movies. You can hook up some devices to make it so an external dvd player (ps2, whatever else) can display on the stock navi screen.
If you have any more questions, search... it's been talked about many many times.

Re: DVD
You would need something like the AV Electronic unit (www.avelectronic.com) or the soon to be released PAC video input.
This unit wires in between the DVD unit and the screen and overrides it to put video on the screen. You can then hit a button to switch between video and navi. Your navi remains fully operational in the background. Long story short, you gotta have an external DVD source.
I have a PS2 sitting behind my passenger seat that is working out real nice right now.
you will also need a PAC AAI-NIS interface if you wanna wire the DVD sound through the stereo. this unit plugs into the factory SAT radio connector and gives you 2 sets of audio inputs (good for iPod too). the sound quality is much better than the AV Electronic's built in FM modulation, or so i've heard.
btw... i would recommend not playing anything on the screen while you're driving alone... it gets distracting in anything but bumper to bumper traffic.
i'll attach pics below of my installation after i go outside and snap a few

Re: DVD
put this together myself... grey/white wire is hardwired to my driver's side cigarette lighter, the other side has a 12v outlet (just like the cig lighter). i used a small project box from radio shack to hide the wiring splices... looks nice and clean
Edited by SI_G35Coupe on 09/15/04 10:48 PM.

Re: DVD
this is what it would look like if you took a peek into my backseat area (with the passenger seat extended forward)
Edited by SI_G35Coupe on 09/15/04 10:53 PM.
