What wire should I splice into...
to power my Auto-Meter guages? I will be attempting to install a Boost, EGT and A/F guages this weekend and I'm just trying to get my info straight before I start dismantling the interior of my G. This is for a 2k3 MT G...

Not sure what you want to splice into, but the fuse block should have a space for a spade type connector to give power on ignition. There may also be a dash light space in there too....I have not looked in the G35 fuse block, just going by previous cars and their electrical funniness.

If you remove the drivers side underdash [(1) 10mm bolt] and pull it down you will find a metal knee brace. Remove (4) 10mm bolts from it and take it out of the car. You will then be able to find a harness running up to the key switch. In this harness you will find all the power you need - 12vdc all the time, 12 volts when the key is turned to any postion but cranking, 12 volts when the key is turned to any position including cranking, and 12 volts only when cranking.
What kinda wires are you looking for?

Thanks for the info!! I'm looking for 12v when ignition is on 'including cranking'. You nailed it! Do you happen to have a diagram of the harness so I know which wire is which? or the color of that particular wire?

which wire is this? if you read my other thread, i'm looking for a way to keep my PS2 running with all key positions. think i can run a power line right from the battery and use a relay on this wire to control it?
didn't mean to hijack the thread, but this is exactly what i'm looking for

I don't remember off of the top of my head what color it is, black/red comes to mind though. I may be wrong, and I don't have my laptop or any other info with me right now, so I can't verify. A relay off of this wire would be exactly what you want if you want to try what you want to try. I have a 300w inverter, wired directly to the battery, in my work truck and every time I start the truck it goes into protection and shuts off. I run my laptop off of it so its not a big deal, but it was still annoying so I had to wire a relay to the starter wire that shuts the inverter off every time I crank the truck. You may have issues like this, the tank idea isn't a bad one!
