chip for G35?

I've been searching on the internet for a computer chip and the only one I have found is made by JET. Has anyone tried this chip? How much extra horsepower does it give you?
How difficult is the swap?
thanks
Chris

Re: chip for G35?

I haven't heard anything about the JET chip, but a number of members have the TechnoSquare ECU upgrade.

If you do get the JET chip, let us know how well it works.

Re: chip for G35?

Wait for the Stillen VQ-PRO coming out this fall. Its a plug and play mod from Stillen that adjusts the VQ's A/F ratio and timing. Its supposed to be better than the TS ECU.

Hard to say if it has any features that will be better, but it's worth a good hard look anyway.

Re: chip for G35?

if it doesn't have capabilities for the 100% throttle opening feature and the increased rev limiter, I'm not interested... those are really the key selling points to the TS reflash, IMO...

Re: chip for G35?

Too bad Dynojet doesn't make these for cars. The PCIII rocks and allows custom dyno mapping by the user. Well, we can dream I guess. Maybe Stillen can copy it and sell it for $999.99.

Re: chip for G35?

I don't know the details but that's why I said its "supposed" to be better and yes...it was according to Stillen so take it for what its worth. I'm sure TS will say that their ECU flash will be better than the Stillen unit.

BUT, *supposedly*, *according to Stillen R&D*, the VQ-PRO will not lead to detonation and you don't have to use 100 octane gas to get optimal results from the TS ECU. They say it will increase the rev limiter among adjusting the A/F ratio. What's nice about it is that you can plug it in and don't have to send in your ECU or take it to TS to be flashed and will be compatible with 2004+ models. It won't be customized, though, like the TS for the bolt-ons you may have on your car. The VQ PRO can also be removed if your service dept. is not aftermarket mod friendly.

Again, i don't know all of the details but it does peak my interest as an alternative to the TS. I'm not saying to go out and get the Stillen, merely to wait and compare the TS to the Stillen when it does come out and tested/dyno'd.....

Re: chip for G35?

Joe.....

It really does suck about the car....

But... as far as the ECU, sorry if I was rude there... it was in a kind of friendly way..

But... here is one thing about Stillen... I simply do not believe anything they say until it is independtly proven by a reliable g35 member. They claim 23 hp gain for their sedan exhaust.... it's laughable. I do think that their exhausts for the coupe and the Z make better power than the others, but it's certainly not as good as they claim. It is generally safe to take about half of their HPgain claims as being close to true.

Also, this mod is perhaps good for those without any other mods on the car. Also, the ecu, I am certain, will NOT include the remapping of the drive-by-wire, which is where a good part of the gains on the top end comes from. Also, the dealer can NOT find out that you have an TS ECU update.

Re: chip for G35?

I agree ....Stillen is somewhat part-propaganda and I understand their drive for market penetration. I, too, wait until a product is objectively tried and tested before making an informed decision.

Its kind of like me prescribing medication for my patients, I don't prescribe Cialis just b/c its the latest and greatest medication for ED and you can get an erection at will for 3 days.. Viagra has been tried and tested and has a longer and resulting safer adverse effect profile which I write for 9 out of 10 times.

*BTW, I had a patient come into the ER after taking Yohimbine which is an herbal supplement to help with erections. He had had an erection for 6 straight hours and was embarassed to come into the ER.....basically he was in agony. I took 2 - 18 Gauge (yes, the same wire gauge as some speaker wire) syringes and stuck it into his ***** at 3 and 9 o' clock and aspirated as much blood needed to return it back into a flacid state. You might think the insertion of large bore needles into the ***** is painful but try having an erection for 6 hours!

Anyway, the Stillen VQ-PRO is interesting and I look forward to it being tested. Options are always good for the consumer.......

2 - 18 gauge needles to the ***** !!!???
talk about your cringe factor !!!!

I have a real hang up with sending out my ECU from Florida to Cali. I'm sure they'll reflash it properly but I can't get over the "what-if" factor. I'm still undecided.

The JWT TT kit is supposed to have an ECU upgrade as well. It's good to have options :P

Re: chip for G35?

Joe, I've seen priopism twice in all my years. They both said it was unbelievably painful! The relief in their eyes when they had that syringe drain the blood! They said they didn't even feel the needle go in! (HARDLY anyway!)
