I should also say that since I put the turbocharged Z behind me my driving habits are much more subdued and I only romp on it maybe once every 50 miles or so. I average 23mpg if that tells you anything. 90% interstate miles too.
I would say that the GC is better for long drain intervals. One of the reasons BMW and Mercedes use European blend oils, is because the oils can last longer and still maintain great protection.

Cant speak on the edge. I am only familiar with the GC. One thing however with long drain intervals is that at some point you will have to change the oil filter, in between.

I think with a good filter however 6-7k shouldn't be a problem. 10k IMHO is too long for a filter.

filter location has a anti drain back check ball to prevent all the oil from spilling out. You might lose 1/2 quart from the oil in the actual filter

I guess its just the fact that its got more surface area than the standard filter plus its a synthetic filter. I know the amsoil filters are supposed to be good for 25k

I would most certainly go with the GC for a longer drain interval. No way Edge is good for a 15K drain interval based on the UOAs I have seen - 10k would also be a reach based on the TBNs I have seen as well. I am on my second run of Edge right now and will likely change at 6K - was using GC previously.

GC is currently on sale at Autozone. 5 qt and Bosch filter for $26.99.

I'm trying to look up GC on autozone's website. What is the true name of this oil? Is it Castrol Syntec 0W-30 or something else? Nothing comes up if I just type in German Castrol.

I've been running GC on my car for the last couple intervals. I'm going to do the UOA for the first time at the end of my current interval and see how its doing. I usually change it around 3.5-3.75k miles to avoid warranty issues though. I wanted to try the Castrol Edge but I haven't seen many UOA's on that so I'm a little hesitant.

I missed out on that autozone deal though. Peeved about that since I have to pay 7.50 a quart now and no filter

^^^ I don't see why you're running such a high grade oil at all honestly if you're changing at that interval. Supertech would probably be fine for that lol

it's weird, i've tried out gc due to a lot of people like it...but have had mediocre results, lots of copper.

switched to pennzoil platinum, and have been very happy with the results, not extended intervals, though.

on first try of castrol edge right now.
