Finally finished Header Install

It was fuccking horrible!!! I had to spread it out over a few days because of school, but overall it probably took me 12-15 hours. I really don't remember as it is all a hutge blur right now. I actually have a great sense of accomplishment after finishing this, however it would be sooooooo worth it to pay someone. My arms look like I got in a fight with Edward Scissorhands! I pretty much got away with using different ratchet extensions to get the old manifolds off, and a snap-on flex head ratcheting wrench for the header install. Note that the only components I removed were: steering arm, bracket that holds the power steering fluid can, intake system, and I had to unclip a few wire looms and move them to the side. I didn't remove any coolant hoses, A/C compressor or any of that other stuff some people recommend. I am glad it is over, but the only problem is I can't start my car until I weld up my SHITTY Injen exhaust for the third time. I will post my impressions after tomorrow.

Re: Finally finished Header Install

Awsome... Which brand of headers did you install? Let us know how much of a difference in power you notice with the headers on.

Re: Finally finished Header Install

I Installed the DC sports stainless headers. I dont think you can get away with not taking that much off with any of the other headers. I got them from summit racings price screw up for $300 (no they are not available at this price anymore). I have yet to drive the car around but I will give a review when I do. I will have to remind myself to take some pics before I put everything back on.

Re: Finally finished Header Install

Congrats - I put the car on jackstands and took a long, hard look at everything before I decided to NOT do the install myself... it ended up costing me $400, but in the end, it was well worth it - they did have to remove some A/C and coolant hoses to do the install with the Pro-1's however...but once he got them on, he said they "fit like a dream" - well, now they work/sound like a dream, too! Hope you enjoy them - it will all be worth it the first time you hit the throttle...

Re: Finally finished Header Install

The one thing I did notice when I was fitting up my exhaust to get it welded was that the race pipes didnt exactly fit the mid-pipe like it did before, which kind of freaked me out. I will just have to wait and see when I get the whole thing on. I have to go pick up my exhaust at about 7:30 tonight so Im gonna be doin some redline runs down sunset tonight!!

Re: Finally finished Header Install

neff - I've done before dynos, and right now I'm just waiting for a free weekend to run to Houston to re-dyno - I dynoed 245hp/238tq w/ intake/plenum/pulley/test pipes/exhaust, and it was still making power up to redline - I feel the "punch" come on a lot sooner with the headers and my new resonated test pipes (I think they are actually a better fit for N/A than the regular test pipes) - I'm guessing 10-12+ HP and 6-9+ TQ increases... after this dyno, I'm going to be sending the sheets along with my ECU to TS for a reflash so I can optimize all this top-end HP and help out the low-end a little bit as well... after this I think I'm done with the engine for a while - it's just getting too costly for installation...

I will definitely post dyno numbers before/after as soon as I dyno... I love these headers and I hope that they are a hit when they finally go out to the public...
