Putting back on the factory air intake
Putting back on the factory air intake
Does anyone have instructions on removing the Injen CAI and putting back on the factory intake? I didn't do it myself originally so I want to make sure I'm putting everything back in place correctly.
Just in case you're wondering why I'm doing this......I'm sick of that whistling noise the CAI makes.......maybe when I get some $$$ I'll put on the Z-tube and popcharger.

Re: Putting back on the factory air intake
No whistling sounds from the Z tube/K&N combo (stock airbox)...just an addictive, mean sound with WOT over 3,500 rpm's!!! ;-)

I installed the Z-tube first and there is no whistle. After adding the Pop Charger, there is a slight whistle but only through a narrow RPM range and under certain loads. I can only hear it with the windows down, during low speeds and radio off.

Re: Putting back on the factory air intake
Yes, I agree with bsgoren. After going through Typhoon CAI and Crawford, I ended up with the Z-Tube and K/N panel filter with the stock airbox and plenum. That combo gives the best torque and sound for my dollar, or any other dollar amount. Others may differ, but I am definitely happy. I may try the APS tallboy plenum with this setup after others have dynoed and had some time with it.
If you dont have them already, slap on a good true-dual catback, crank pulley, Z-Tube, K/N panel filter, and do a Technosquare reflash after all are in place. You will then have a pretty potent and responsive stock motor that wont blow up on you. You can try the hi-flow cats, but I find them raspy with a high-flow catback.

I had Kinetix high flow cats with a Borla exhaust on my coupe. No rasp at all.

Do you know the website for APS? I have seen reference to their intake a couple of times now but know nothing about it.

Re: Putting back on the factory air intake
I actually got a whistling sound from the K&N and OEM air box combo.
It really does sound like kind of a Turbo.
I don't know what happened but a few days ago, i didnt want up my car because of a hurry and on a emergency situation i floored the car and it made a kinda of a blow off sound.

I tried to, but the site went down. Check this link... and follow the steps in reverse.
With the CAI you will also have to remove your bumper, but I don't have a link for that. You might want to a search on gowners.com to see what they have over there...
