Power Steering Fluid?

I noticed that the PSF is close to the low mark so I was gonna buy some and put it on.
Went to the Nissan dealer as the price is much lower there (bought touch paint for under $5)
but found that they do not have PSF II, that is what is called in the manual.
The one they have is just plainly called Power Steering Fluid made by Nissan and is in 12oz white bottle.

Is there something called PSF II then??

Re: Power Steering Fluid?

Great question! I noticed my power steering fluid was low a
couple of weeks ago. So I went to the autoparts store.
I bought the STP power steering fluid. I worried about it not
being compatable, so I went online to the STP web site.
STP says their PSF is compatable with all other types of PSF.
I still worry about it. My PSF is discolored and looks
like it needs changing. Will talk to the service department
about this next time. Let us know what you find out.

OK

What ever you find let me know and if you can find the p/n of the PSF bottle that will be helpful.

I will go and buy it from Nissan rather than Infiniti... MUCH CHEAPER

I just bought the touch up paint for $5 and the PSF bottle he was giving to me was under $4 but it did not say PSF II per our manual so I did not get it. Infiniti might charge 2 or 3 times for the same exact thing.

Re: Power Steering Fluid?

I believe that the reference to the II is for Dexron II. I believe that the intent is to use "power steering fluid" or Dexron II as the equivalent. I personally use any of the following: Valvoline Synthethic, Royal Purple or Redline. You shouldn't be needing PSF though, unless you have a leak somewhere.

It's a G thang, you wouldn't understand...No Really, you won't understand unless you have one.
