Oil Catch Tanks

Hey guys, just wanted to get your advice on these oil catch tanks. Ebay has a fair amount of them listed and Performance Nissan sells one as well. Are these things legit or just a bunch of bull [censored]??? They make some interesting claims but if they do indeed do what they're supposed to, then why wouldn't manufacturers but them stock on engines?? Let me know what you think.

Re: Oil Catch Tanks

I have one, but it's not necessary. Mainly used on forced induction cars that have higher crankcase pressure/increased oil vapor.

Re: Oil Catch Tanks

I found them to be a waste on an NA car and more of a bling bling factor. I had a Greddy one on my 240sx and I barely saw anything!

Re: Oil Catch Tanks

Doesnt Greddy release the crankcase into the atmosphere?

Re: Oil Catch Tanks

What do you mean? If Im thinking what you are thinking the answer is no. If it vented it into the atmosphere, you would have oil all over your engine bay. Normally, it is re routed back into the intake tract. Hope that helps.

Re: Oil Catch Tanks

The Procharger setup requires you to vent to atmosphere. And I do have oil all over my engine bay (but also have a bad piston ring). I added a catch can and still get oil coming out of it! Even with a catch can you have to have some outlet on it, so if you have enough pressure the oil can shoot right through.

Re: Oil Catch Tanks

How can you pass emissions without a closed loop PCV system?
