New Alternator and Alternator Charger Wire Questions???

well like the title states..I am installing my new Power Max 220 Amp alternator currently and had a couple of questions about the NEW Alternator and also about the charging wire.

I know that the charging wire runs from the battery down to the alternator and then on back to the transmission area. With that being said after removing the OEM OLD Alternator and removing the charging wire I noticed that its one continuous wire all the way back with a metal bracket crimped in to mount to the alternator.

My question is can I cut the charger wire in front of the actual charging bracket that mounts to the alternator and then run my new 1 Gauge Stinger Ground wire to the battery. Will everything still act the same even if cut being that the the metal bracket is still mounted to the alternator along with my new Stinger Ground wire??

Also I did notice that my new alternator has a alittle bit smaller pulley on it then the OEM one...will this cause a problem??

onto the pics.

can I cut this...also not sure but there was alot of fluid that poured out of this wire...look like antifreeze

and install this along with the original OEM Bracket tightened down still providing the same current...

here is the difference from NEW POWER MAX Alternator vs Original OEM one. see pulley size difference.

The end of the wire goes to the starter. Your fine if you cut the wire, so long as you connect the one end back up, so the starter works.

The smaller pulley will make the alternator spin faster so it will charge more. Will create a little more load on the engine though.

Randy is correct, just make sure you hook your new wire up from the batt, to the alt, then power goes to the starter also. You might also need a different length belt with the smaller pulley.

Well I installed the new Alternator..was a bigger bitch than I thought being that I have an aftermarket radiator and GTM FAN Shroud with SPAL 14" fans.....damn bolts wouldnt come out so in my stupidity dropped the core support out and the radiator then come to realize I could of just removed the FAN shroud since only 2 bolt held it on!! LOL!!! anyways got it installed and yes I def had to switch to a smaller belt. Everything seems to be working fine.. dimming has been taking down some..still exist sometimes which means I probably need to better ground out the engine.

with that being said overall def a good buy and no problems so far.
