overheating - not the usual suspects
overheating - not the usual suspects
2003 Coupe - AT - 80K miles - Overheating
Thermostat - replaced and tested
Radiator - removed, taken to radiator shop checked and cleaned
Radiator cap - replaced
Electric fans - working fine
Heat - works
Oil Change - no water in oil (not head gasket)
Air in system - filled system properly. Used Lisle funnel. Does not appear to be an air pocket.
Bleeder valve - checked, no air in that part of system.
Cleaned around AC condenser when radiator was out. Only a few leaves.
Water pump seems to be pumping just fine.
Have I missed anything? This thing is driving me nuts!

Make d@mn sure there are no bubbles in the system. I've had trouble, with air bubbles, on many cars before because I wasn't patient when it came to getting all the air out. Next to check would be the weep hole on the water pump. If it's leaking water from the weep hole, you need a new water pump ASAP.
Happened to me a few times while I was changing out my coolant. This is what helped me...
Fill the tank up...
Drive your car...
When you see your temp go up, shut off your car
Wait till it cools down enough to pour more Antifreeze in there...
Pour more antifreeze, start the car up with the cap open,
let the coolant run out...
Then drive the car...and repeat if necessary
Just make sure your pouring in the radiator not the reserve/overflow tank

Even though your using the spill-free funnel (which i highly recommend) you still need to elevate the front of the car to ensure that the fill level in the funnel is the high point in the coolant system. Get the car up to operating temp by reving to 3k holding 10 sec several times, then shut the car off and let it cool completely down. keeping your overflow reservoir and spill free funnel filled at all times, after repeating this process a couple of times without the level changing in the funnel or reservoir, cap it off and you should be good to go.
