2005 G35x Mods ???

Hey guys,

I am a proud new 2005 G35x owner and new to the forum.

I have been reading through alot of the post looking for anyone/ advice on G35x mods and haven't found too much.

The mods I am considering, but do not know if they are compatible are:
1.) Injen Cold Air Intake OR JWT Pop Charger & Z-Tube COMBO
2.) Stillen Exhaust (True Dual) G35 Sedan
3.) Technosquare ECU remapping.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you !!

Well option one is open to you. But I'm from the school that says the oem intake is best modified with the Z-tube and your choose of performance panel filter in the oem air box. Intake mods can bring their own enjoyable induction howl, but once my custom exhaust was on the car, it could no longer be heard.

You cannot use the Stillen exhaust, Borla or any other system beyond maybe one of the rear section only system's, even that I doubt. Your AWD system forced the piping to be routed totally different then RWD sedans. You can't even use a aftermarket Y-pipe. Stillen or Borla had mentioned that they would be working on a system. I would give them a call and ask to speak to someone in product developement and do some cage rattling.

Technosquare does not have any ECU mods out for any 2005 car, and since I do not believe that all 2004 cars have even been covered as yet, I would not expect a 2005 ECU reflash from them in the short term. I do support the mod when you have other mods that typically cause the oem ECU mapping to cause lean condition's.

G35Sedan,

Thanx for the response.

Looks like I do not have many options at this point.

I emailed Technosquare and they responded saying that they will have a G35x mapping in a month or two, however, he did not mention for which model year.

Also, I am not sure what you ment my the lean conditions regarding ECU.

Whats the story with the transmission in general in the X? Can it handle a lot more than stock torque/hp?

I am hoping that APS TT will eventually fit to an X and that the drivetrain is able to handle that or be upgraded to handle that.

Does the X have a future in modifications? will there ever be much of a demand for aftermarket on it? Seems like AWD would be a lot of fun on a suped up sedan.

FYI. The "Old" Stillen Cat-Back Sedan Exhaust doesn't fit the G35X the new version fits the 2WD and AWD G35 Sedans.
