I'm leaning toward the Kinetix cause thats what most people have, their install seems very easy, and they dont require a core. What do you guys think I should do?? Any experience?

 

Kinetix - Affordable but Prone to cracking. Performance wise is up to par.

Crawford - Still the best to get but pricey compara with Kinetix

StrictlyZ - No coments yet.

If you are familar with the Japanese companies that make plenum spacers these are wedge shaped that go inbetween the plenum to even out the lean condition of the front two cylinders. I am being prototyped right now for a sweet spacer and other mods to the plenum right now from a top company right now. All I can say is DR CHARLES is doing this...........

 

Although I'm happy with my Crawford, I'd wait and check out the APS. My $0.02.

 

A wedge-shaped space sounds like a very nice solution! It avoids all the hassles of the core charge, the problems associated with cracking, and (I presume) the cost of creating an entire replacement plenum. Any more information you could tease us with - timelines, numbers, anything like that?

 

that APS looks nice! I hope someone does a dyno before/after if they buy it!

I've had an order in with Crawford for about 6 weeks. I spoke to Doug at Crawford this week and he had some very interesting news. They are going to be coming out with a cast plenum in the next 4-6 weeks. They have already got the test version on some cars and will be placing an order for the cast version if the test work out. He quoted me $350 for the cast version with no core charge. I'm not certain if this will be his final price or not. I asked if there were any changes from the current version they produce. He indicated it's going to be slightly larger at the neck to accomodate those who like to change the throttle body.

 

Actually it would be a rich condition. Lean suggests too much air and not enough fuel. Rich is too much fuel and not enough air.

I'm curious to if anyone has exactly flowed benched aftermarket intake plenums vs the stock plenums to see if there really is that much difference. From the dynos I've seen, it's a crap shoot. Some cars gain power with the aftermarket plenums and some loose power with the plenums.

I dont know anyone who has tried it. In theory it should be an improvement. Not only with increased plenum volume, but in thermally insulating the plenum for a cooler aircharge. But at over $500 for a gasket, I had to pass.

 

Crawford has flow benched most if not all of their products. Go to their website and snoop around. There is a video with Doug almost ashing a cigarette, it's kind of interesting and funny... "Is that ash ever going to fall?"

Also, in the past, the StrictlyZ plenum was an older version of a Crawford Plenum, not something that they designed themselves.

Forget about the spacer, do a search and you'll see why... Either get the Crawford V5 or wait for a good casting/machining solution that yields equal gains.

 

I talked to Charles today 10 extra horses on the Dyno. Plus they are testing some new secret stuff to redirect air flow inside the plenum...... Do a Google search on Dr Charles you should be able to find out what company he works for now... Lates

both good, never heard of the other one... kinetix had problems with cracking... but supposedly fixed now... crawford people say its pricey but that is what i would go with
