I'm sure you could fit it but may have to get custom engine mounts, tranny, electronics, etc.

Most likely it's just a bore/stroke change to get from the VQ35 to the VQ40. If htis is the case, then you don't have to worry about new engine mounts.

However, there are some problems I see. You are going have to mod your ECU to account for what is probably a longer stroke and the VQ may not like the longer stroke at the higher rpms. Just a lot of problems.

You sound like you'd be ready to spend some $$$$ to drop a VQ40 crate motor. For the same money you can go with a supercharger and get much better performance gains on your current engine.

I'm just looking at different ideas for a project. If the vq40 is a direct fit then I want to see what I can do to fix it up with internals and turbo.

Since it is just a bore/stroke change as GZire mentioned, it will probrably fit with some mount changes.

By the time you figure out how to do it and all the costs associated with a custom fit, you could have just bought this
http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...ine&prodid=926

A TT or supercharge @ 9 PSI on the 8.5:1 version of this with the right heads and cams would probably get close to 500 crank HP. You would be into it for $17-20K, but it would be sick, sick I say.

that 4.3 kit is nice, but at the price I think i'll just stick with the stock engine and build up the internals for turbo.

I did find a lot on this same topic on other fourms. I guess it's vq40 is the same engine bored out. When I actually saw it in a 05 pathfinder the whole top was configured differently. The whole intake tubing is in the front of the engine instead of starting in the back like the G and Z. The test drive was fun, all the pathfinder needs is a manual model again. The auto is still very responsive.

I remeber someone asking the same question but it was sorta shot down because the engine is not really desinged for sport car performance but more for rugged sport towing power.

I was under the impression that it was the same bore, just stroked.
