OBD II Access?

I have an 05 coupe and have two components that need to connect to the OBD II. I have a splitter where both can be connected but once one of the component is powered on the other shuts off and vise versa. Is there a remedy for this or is there another OBDII access? I'd like both components to be powered on at the same time.
