UDP Regrets

I know it's been discussed a million times and there's debate whether underdrive pulleys are safe. But can anyone site a specific case where a motor was damaged and somebody experienced problems with their G because of this mod? The VQ seems to be pretty solid..

Thanks

I searched for 6 months to find this before, and I couldn't find anything from it damaging an engine. Also I didn't find anything saying it was 100% safe. Ended up I just never installed my stillen UDP and got an ATI street super damper when I built my motor

Could you school me on which damper to get. There is a street spec and a race version. Is the race version just built for higher HP/RPM than the street version? I'm preping my engine to handle 8K revs and 500-700whp and this damper was recommended, but nobody can give me a straight answer which one I need to use for my application. I don't plan to do any auto-x or anything, just a daily driver and occassional drag racing. Any help is appreciated.

Found the answer on an old Injected Performance webpage:

ATI's Super Damper Street balancer for the Nissan 350Z and Infiniti G35 is a harmonically balanced crank pulley for use in high performance engines. The Street option includes provisions for air conditioning, alternator, and power steering belts.
