I have a 2004 6MT coupe running a Vortech Super Charger and
I got a missfire code from the ECU. I changed the plugs with another stock
set and reset the ECU and it's running fine now, But I heard the NGK IRIDIUM
plugs, in one step cooler are supose to be better. Anyone come across this?

I recently had my car dyno'ed. The place does alot of mustangs with superchargers. The head guy recommeneded nkg iridium plugs and added if your running nos or a supercharger you should go at least 1 step colder. I just bought the standard nkg iridium plugs and after this round of mods(y-pipe, cat deletes) I'm going to re-dyno & see what happens.
PS: I'm pretty handy, but I couldn't figure out how to get the the friggin' plugs to change them myself!!! WTF!

 

Yeah I'm getting the runaround on where I can get these cooler plugs.
I need a set bad. I just forked out 16.00$ each on the stock ones.

usually you need to reduce the gap on the plugs when running a boosted motor, sometimes the boost will blow out the spark if you have them gapped too high

also, iridium plugs are known more for the longetivity, if you want quality spark go with old fashion ngk coppers, some supra people usually just use those and change them every 3000 miles with the oil change

 

eBay...... type "iridium 350z" they're part # LFR6A1X-11 $45.60 + $6.95 shipping for a 6pack. That item is the 1 step colder plug. And as Blackbird said you can/should reduce the gap from 45 down to 25 or 30.

be careful when gapping the iridium plugs, the tips on the electrode are very fine and can be broken easily
