automatic transmission help?

Ok so I'm gonna have my 03 g35 auto transmission rebuilt. I'm looking to make I guess u can say "bullet proof". I got plans on rebuilding the engine to at least 500-550 supercharged in the next year. My thing is, I am not mechanically inclined so I don't know what is needed to do a complete upgrade on the 5 a/t. Can someone tell me whats needed so i can order. I'm giving away my old car to a master mechanic that will be doing the build for me, that way I don't have to pay for labor. I wont do a manual as I want to be different . A list of what I need and who makes it would be awsome. Thx and aloha.

Option I choose is the ALTO Red Eagle Kit. Its for all Nissan/Infiniti 5AT Trans and geared for Truck/SUV. Complete Rebuild Kit will upgrade all clutch sets except reverse because of different tooth count (40 Tooth VS 28 Tooth). Kolene Steel Plates will work in 4 out of 7 clutch sets.

Kit allows two extra clutch discs in Direct Drum and Input Drum Clutch sets. All gaskets, o-rings, seals and springs to rebuild pistons and valve body.

If you choose complete rebuild kit there will be alot of extra clutch/steel plates leftover. Cheaper alternative is to buy the kit to replace Direct Drum and Input Clutch sets.

Complete kit was $700.00 and took me 9 MOS to locate. Texas Nat'L Transmission Parts is where mine was purchased.

Also purchased an ATSG sevice repair manual.

OP: I don't want to jump on you with sarcasm right away because you may ACTUALLY know how ridiculous what you just said sounded (but want to see it through no matter what it costs anyway) or because you actually have NO CLUE how ridiculous what you said sounded (but want to see it through- no matter what it costs- anyway).

Or you're just some dreamer who figured "hey... I know... how about I lob an SC in my 10 year old car and crank off an easy 500 reps... I just "gotta" chalk that one off on the ol' bucket list." In that case you will have your eyes handed to you in a bucket of flames in less time than it takes Oprah to ruin an interview.

So... my honest and best intentioned answer to add to that above post is:

You'll want to keep it cool- TRANS FLUID COOLER

Something in that league at least... Bullet proof is not heat proof. Our trans NEED to be kept cool. Do not cheap out on the cooling- especially for what you can get with an extra 100 bucks.

You'll also want to consider DEEP ATF PAN

500-550 SC is going to be a tough goal to achieve with "no mechanical inclination." Rebuilding a motor- ESPECIALLY the DE non-rev can be a challenge and you're going to lose a LOT of your power through the AT.

Enjoy the costs of "wanting to be different" as they will be upon you in abundance.

If it sounded weird its cause I'm on meds. No I am not mechanically inclined, nut I do have a friend that will be doing it for me. Guy gets flown around the u.s. for his service and gets paid 80.00 an hour. Money is not to much of a problem for me. I plan on supercharging the car also. I DON'T have big dreams, u can call it a goal!!. I no what I want, but I'm basically just buying everything and having someone else build it. I'm New to these kind of cars. Other then this g35, I own a 2010 super snake and a 2010 f-650. As u can tell, everything was bought built. I KNOW WHAT I WANT!! Being that my friend is gone most of the time, is why I'm asking u guys. Just want to make sure everything is correct the first time.

Quite certain you won't need to worry about that in Hawaii.

As for being on meds... do you have any clue exactly what is involved in drumming up 5-550hp on this platform?

I been doing a lil research. Idk exactly how difficult it will be, but I do no its obtainable. I do no it wont be cheap either. But its a project so I have lots of time. I'm already in the works of buying a built block the was specifically built for boost. I do know that the internals will be forged. After that ill need to get more input on here and let my bud take over. I'm actually glad that you're saying that its gonna be hard. I was worrying that it might be over kill for a daily driver work car. I'd really like it to be 40 hp. y

400hp is easy for a SC, 500-550hp will most likely require larger trims/propellers and the proper supporting mods.

Ok. I'd rather go with what's easier. What would you guys recommend for cylinder heads? ( brand ) ? If I could buy it complete with upgraded parts I'd like to go that way also. But I don't wanna sway from my original question either. That a/t kit up top, would it be able to handle 400+ hp?

430 is pretty easily done with the vortech kit and some supporting mods..thats @ 8psi

You can get the smaller pulley for higher boost and more supporting mods but you want a stronger motor if you push past 400-425. 450 is the max you would every really wanna go on a stock block.

As mentioned above, heat is the #1 killer for an automatic transmission. The stock trans is actually very strong as long as you keep the heat under control. Install a trans temp gauge to monitor it and save yourself the trouble of guessing whether you need more cooling or less cooling.

There are some trans oil coolers that have fans built into them, you can have a thermostat run that fan if need be. The use of a trans oil temp gauge will solve guess work though.

If I were serious, and had the money... and needed a built block right now... I would be heading right over to Dynosty. It MIGHT be on the expensive side but I have to say that in my travels across the interwebs they definitely have their fingers on the pulse of what the community needs. They're making good blocks, they're giving their clients the support they need, and they're on the leading edge of development of new products and technology. If you're talking a fully built long block... and "money is not much of a problem" then I'd do it all in one place. Shipping is going to blow, but that's what FI is all about.
