New Cast Crawford Plenum

I just got on the waiting list for the new cast aluminum Crawford plenum. They have a special intro price of just $350.00 and they should ship mid to end of February. It has the exact dimensions as the V5 and it's one piece and not cut or welded. This is the perfect time to buy if you're thinking about it. Best of all, you get to keep your OEM plenum too. Here's the link: Cast Plenum

17-20 HP at redline? Is that realistic? Does anyone have experience with their plenums? 17HP for $350 is a heck of a deal!

You don't get 17-20 hp throughout the whole rev band though...only near redline. You'll see about 8 wrhp thoughout the rev band. This is a great mod if you're planning to do the ECU reflash, because they bump your rev limiter up to 7100 rpm just like the '05s. You'll definately feel that power with the additional room to rev. The ECU isn't necessary, but you'll wish you had more real estate when you're bumping off the stock limiter. Check out my350z.com and do a search for dynos with this combo.

The only problem with the ECU reflash is that for 90% of us on this forum you are tuning the ECU and not the car. You send a list of your mods (and possibly an A/F graph) in along with your ECU. You have to wait 3 days and hope that TS got the flash right. Then you need to re-dyno... If they got the flash wrong you need to send the ECU back and wait for 3 more days and re-re-dyno, and on and on and on... until they finally get it right. Add in rental car fees and you're way out of the ball park for a reasonable solution IMO.

Bottom line, the reflash isn't the correct solution unless you live in CA.

Hmmm, I haven't heard that one yet, but I could be wrong. What solution are you referring to? I didn't know there was a problem. You're getting 17-20 hp up top and that's a problem? I'm just relaying how to really take advantage of the plenum. I know many guys (both G and Z) with the ECU and they never sent it back unless they added something their car. I could be wrong, but it's enough to convince me to pull the trigger. Like I said before, the ECU IS NOT necessary.

I REALLY like the idea of an increased redline, the biggest reason being you will definately pass 60 mph before you have to shift to third, right now it seems that the rev limited kicks in at like 58 or 59 mph in second? 17 hp would be nice across the power, but it is still kickass up top as well!

They're located in Torrence, Cali. I would even drive 3 hours to do the ECU and let them do it in person rather than being at the mercy of FEDEX.

What exactly does this mod do? If I have a '05 with the increased red line would I need not get the ECU reflash?

There isn't an ECU for the '05s yet. This is for 03 and 04 G/Z that want some extra features that the stock unit doesn't offer. Check out Technosquare's website to see the list of changes, which is not limited to the increased rev limiter.

I'm on the waiting list for the cast plemun also. I was waiting for the plenum from APS, but they still don't know when it is going to be ready. I spoke to one of the guys at Crawford. I was told that the cast plenum is stronger than the previous v5 plenum do the way it is manufactured. He also recomended the Technosquare flash for us that live in Southern Cal because of the 91 octain gas. He also stated that we would get the gains without it, but the gains would be higher with it. (I had the Technosquare flash done to my 2k3 Maxima over a year ago and in my opinion it is also a must have for those of uf us that do not want to have forced induction. I'm not saying the gains are the same as forced induction, but the gains are worth it.)
