Lightbulb Rwd G35x ????

Since the G35X’s AWD system is electronically controlled, does anyone see a reason why the ECU couldn’t be programmed to only operate in 2wd mode? I am dying to dyno-tune my car for a little F/I, but there is a scarcity of 4WD dynos in the Midwest, or ANYWHERE for that matter.

The sweetest setup would be a switch akin to the snow switch that would toggle between RWD and AWD modes. Burnouts, dynos, NO PROBLEM. A flick of the switch and back to all-season fun.

Anyone care to chime in?

dude, what do you have on your g35x? i've had a stillen stage 2 since last fall and the same problem - no real good dyno shops anywhere near chicago. i think i finally found a place that's able to service awd auto.
here is the link of all awd dyno shops in the country. post them up so we can see what you got
me and another guy from the forums are trying to go together and get our cars dynoed in the next few weeks. if you feel like driving to chicago - we can get a group discount. let me know if you are interested

shops with awd dyno

also, i like the idea of having both awd and rwd but i'm not sure how realistic that is. it will cost either a ton of money or not possible at all. i'll have to ask the guys at the shop next time i'm there to see if it's possible. or may be we can contact technosquare and see if they can put together an awd package for the ecu reflash.

last time i spoke to technosquare. they said to try back in feburary for the x reflash. he said they were working on it and it would be for the 04 model.

as far as the snow button being a toggle switch for awd rwd, that would be the neatest thing since sliced bread. its deffentially possible beacsue other velichles such as the yukon have buttons for rwd, 4hi, 4lo. proably would cost a pretty penny to do on are cars as is.

Since the EM clutch is controlled by the TCU, and it has the ability to switch to 100% RWD already, does anyone forsee any mechanical stumbling blocks to this idea?

I'm not familiar with the inner workings of the X's transfer case...but I do know that it is electric. Is it possible that by simply unplugging some of the leeds connecting the TCU to the transfer case that you might render the car 100% rear wheel. Of course it might also default to a 50/50 split. Before I disconnected anything though you might jack up the front of the car...if the front tires spin while the rears are on the ground, then perhaps their is a chance that the X factor can be defeated. Ask a mechanic at the dealer, perhaps they have a way of defeating the mag. clutch for test purposes.

A more drastic approach might be to remove the drive shaft that connects the Electro Magnetic Clutch to the front trans axle.
