Rev-up motor question

So im looking to buy a 2006 g35 coupe 6mt so yes it a rev-up and it has 79k miles. Now what are the chances of it being a bad motor? there seem to be no knocking noises, engine runs really smooth. But when could the motor **** itself due to oil burning? what are the chances

***Misread...thought you said you heard knocking***

I purchased in 2011 a 05 coupe 6mt and was cautious of the same. I would personally take it to a nissan dealer to have them check it out. (saves on some money in case the car is having issues). I would check the oil level, and how "fresh" the oil looks. Ask the questions, ask them again, and then ask them again. Aside from going off the sellers word and nothing being replaced by the dealer, you really won't know.

There really isn't a way of knowing for sure unless you know the seller. When the oil consumption is a problem it doesn't have any big signs for you to pay attention to other than the low oil. You wanna see how the exhaust is after a cold start - see if you get any blue smoke at all.

Even a dealership won't be able to help much other than if they have records of the car being in the shop for the oil consumption test or motor replacement.
