So the kit came in this afternoon and I just installed it. I didn't have the patience or time to wait for a dyno! I couldn't help myself, my engine was calling its name.

It took me ~20 minutes to install. Piece of cake.

My first car was a 1999 Integra GS-R that I bought brand new off the lot. After my maiden voyage in that car I became hooked on something that wound up becoming quite popular. A little variable valve timing situation called VTEC. That's the best way to describe what this kit did to my car. It basically turned my car into a monster from ~5,000 RPM to 7,300 RPM. If I lost any midrange power my butt dyno truly didn't feel it. The top end gains are super noticeable. No BS. Really an amazing bang for your buck mod.

I think my Furookie intake is working very well with the new throttle body. For those of you who don't know the specs on it, it's a 3" short ram intake with a built in MAF housing and a chunky K&N cone filter. Very minimal restriction on the intake with my car along with the MREV/Spacer setup.

I wonder would it be possible to bore the 75mm throttle body out to a even larger diameter, say like 77mm?

 

JaE - go hit the maxima.org forums. Quite a few guys have converted their VQ35s to the newer 09+ 75mm throttle body. So many in fact, that they were the reason NWP made it a plug and play kit. They've been doing this for years, dynos are readily available. Yes, it's front wheel drive and not exactly the same VQ or drivetrain setup we've got, but it's similar enough to get a feel for the end results.

More air in = more power out. (Side note: Upgrade your intake tube/MAF housing to a 3.5" unit and re-tune for it and you'll really be happy.)

arock - it's been done (again on the Maximas) but it's more of a pain in the *** to deal with the wiring. The closest / next largest sized TB that's readily available is an 80mm GM unit. It can be done, certainly, but the wiring differences aren't easy to solve.

 

One of the most prestigious tuning companies of their time, SG motorsports had huge success with a larger TB. Granted they were dong extensive work on the car, they still recorded fantastic gains.

 

someone wrote an article about this TB upgrade... said it made noticeable gains above 5k i believe it was..... you can find it on NWP facebook page. they have the article... no, it was not written by an employee

ive had a discussion about that chart with NWP... it was on an AT... as you can see it looks funky. the power drops off abruptly way before it should... they arent sure why it does this. they said it ran fine.. ill try to find the link to the 3rd party tester

I'm in for an independent dyno as well, dropping power like that after 5200rpm is definitely not normal for an N/A DE.
