G35 transmission question

Do you guys like your transmission? Is it somewhat smooth? Are there any problems with it? How easy is it to go from first to second? I have only driven civic's and there tranny's are amazing so im not sure what to expect from something other than a Honda. Do you like your tranny's?

Go test drive one? If your idea of an amazing tranny is in a civic then you sir have low standards.. I like mine. If you are proficient at driving a manual its fine. People complain a lot about the small window of engagement in the clutch pedal but once you get used to it, its pretty much a non-point. It's a pretty solid transmission. Going from 1st to 2nd is as easy as you make it. If you're trying to paul walker the **** out of it then it will probably start to give you problems.

When i say amazing, i'm describing how smooth every gear is. I'd like to test one, but there are none at any of my local dealers thus far. Im in Victoria BC, on the island so it's rare to come across 6mt. But if i read your response right you're saying that it;s a learning curve. Once you get it down, you like it?

G35 transmission is tough but smooth, it feels great. But my input shaft bearing went bad and whines, expensive fix, and I heard it's common.

the jerkage is due to the electronic drive by wire, imo...... first car ive had with it, and its the only one that was somewhat difficult to learn to drive

its not that its much of a learning curve, Its just like driving any other manual, but the window of engagement is a lot smaller than most cars so it just takes a little getting used to. Once you have the muscle memory its just another clutch
