How much is the average cost for valve cover gaskets?

So my mechanic found their was oil leaking onto my coils and spark plugs and told me I needed to change my valve cover gaskets, quoted me 500$ for it. is this overpriced?

Also got charged 200 to change 2 of my coils that was causing a CEL..
labor prices are so rape

I think for OEM gaskets those sound about right not counting labor. I know someone recently used Maxima valve covers with success. Those were about 100-200 for both I think, but you have to modify your intake slightly I think.

500 is prob just for parts. cause you have to buy new valve covers from infiniti and it like 250 a side. plus labor. my mechanic i go to quoted me 1000 for parts and labor.

you could remove the valve cover and try to use some RTV to seal it up

labor is about 2 hours probably - the valve cover gaskets are only $20 each but that isn't what is leaking, it is the part on the valve cover tubes which are not replaceable. Normally that requires replacing completely.

MAXIMA Covers are the same except they say NISSAN or maybe MAXIMA.

Same engine = Same covers fit.

MAXIMA covers are about $40 per side. Infinity are about $100 per side.
As I understand you want to replace the coil gaskets at this time as well.
Check in the Vendor Section here I think you will find some to get MAXIMA covers.

That $500 sounds way good of a price for turnkey job. I'd like to be able to get it that cheap. When mine come due I will do it myself probably.

You cannot RTV them and expect them to stay sealed.

Here is quote from R& Factory Southern CA...I just received this so looks good for me to get parts from them. I will go to NISSAN first and check.

I so not know what these guys are tlaking about Grommets and Alignment Tool but surely needed.

1. with the gasket set with 6 grommet and pcv oring ,2 valve cover gasket and alignment tool it will be $129 shipped with usps priority .
2. just 6 of the grommet with alignment tool it will be $80 shipped .
