bluetooth ECU scanners(elm327)! Which ones work with our cars?

I have been looking for a definite resource on which bluetooth ecu scanners (elm327) will actually work with our cars. With the Torque app, which seems the be the most popular app. I have tried two different elm327 bluetooth adapters with my car (2005 AT sedan) and can't get either to work.

I have tried various combinations of the settings in torque , fast comm, etc. and nothing seems to work. The app shows connected to the bluetooth adapter but not the ECU.

I bought one elm327 blindly and it only works with my sentra, and when I tried it with the G it made the slip and adc lights come on.

The second one I bought after searching the forums and finding a link to one a member said worked with their car. I have only had it a few days so maybe ill get it to work still.

Does anyone know about the custom init codes for the torque app? maybe those would help. It does have an option for the JDM market nissan cars. But I don't think that would be right since i'm obviously USDM.

For anyone that has used a elm327 please post a picture of your ELM327 or a link to what yours looks like and the exact model of your car Year, body, and Transmission type.
I'm curious if maybe the 2005 might actually be CAN bus even though I have found something saying it was not.

I know this topic has been posted before but long forgotten. It seems like this should be a sticky topic once enough data has been compiled that people can get a reliable obd2 scanner for their cars and a free app for all under 15$. It's pretty amazing and when it works properly.

I bought one of those black OBD plug in modules that has a purple and orange sticker on it from Amazon. Worked great for me in my car and friends cars that had troubles

I have the Panlong OBD II scanner with the Torque Pro app and from day 1 they've worked flawlessly on my G and my GTO. Here's a link to the scanner I bought, mine's blue though.

the two I have look just like that one do you know what firmware it says in the torque app under adapter ? I'm assuming yours is a elm327 as well.
I have a 2.1 version that torque says could be a chinese clone. and then my latest one is the 1.5 version that is supposed to work but is not still. I wonder if it could be my phone?
although it couldn't be because it works with my other car. very weird.
any procedures I don't know about maybe?
