I need opinions on my ATF color

As the title stated, I'm not sure if I should replace or add ATF to my G soon. Its at 97K miles right now. I just feel so paranoid because everytime I start my car, I see the "AT Check" Light then goes away. (I heard this is just to check if systems work) But either way it makes me feel nervous.

If I do need ro replace it, what kind of ATF should I get and how many QT?

Heres my ATF Dipstick

Fluid color looks fine. I know on the Honda boards Redline D4 is preferred over Honda OEM fluid but you should make sure its compatible with Nissan automatics first. Any quality Nissan equivalent ATF fluid should be fine.

The AT light flashes that way you know your AT light works! Did you see there was an AWD light too? I don't think your car has AWD .

The light that flashes is called a power-on self-test (POST) that determines if hardware are working correctly. You should see one during startup for everythjng you care about (fuel low light, oil pressure low, VDC OFF, Etc.).

The light is normal if it stays on for an extended period. Your color looks good as well it's nice and reddish. If it was black, brown, smelled funny, and/or gritty then I think you should start worrying.

To answer your other question though. You can use Matic J, but I use Idemitu Type J fluid as well and you can find it on sale a few times. I think next go around I will use Valvoline Maxlife ATF, since it's compatible with other vehicles I own.

At 97K you can probably do a drain/refill if you want. I'd let the car sit overnight, drain the fluid, measure what came out, and then put back in the same amount. You want to do it cold, since ATF expands when it gets hot.
