P1078 G35 Sedan 6MT

My 05 RevUp Sedan 6MT is throwing a P1078. High Idle and power is off in the mid range to top-end.

By Searching, I am a little confused of which part # I need as it seems Nissan has mixed up the part numbers. Do I need the 23731-AL61D or 23731-AL61A sensor?

Bank 1 exhaust cam, it's directly behind the cam so it's easy to tell which is for intake and which is for exhaust.

I think you need the one with the angled plug but you should just pull it out to see for yourself. You should also swap the sensor for the same one on the left side intake cam to make sure the code switches to P0345 I think.

Only replace it with Nissan Genuine Parts OEM or Hitachi.

Straight plug is 23731-6J90D

Angled plug is 23731-AL61D

The final letter on the part number is just the revision, "D" is the latest revision with the metal capsule on the end, supposedly this will remedy the issue of the plastic weld cracking over time allowing oil to penetrate the sensor and cause it to fail. "A" through "C" revision sensors are good for 100k miles, no one knows how long the "D" revision sensors will last because they're only about 2 years old. I just buy whatever is cheaper.

They both looked roughly the same when comparing the two on Ebay listings. I got the 23731-AL61A for $35 OEM while the "D" version is about $100 new.

So, the one I purchased WILL work. Thanks for the confirmation!

That sounds fishy, there's no way that sensor was only $35 ?? Post a link to the eBay page, might be one of those scams that looks a lot like a Genuine Nissan Parts baggy but will instead say something like "Genuine OEM Nissan Parts".

What do you think? It looks legit to me based on the pictures. I decided to take the risk given his feedback score and PayPal protection.

Definitely not OEM, the baggy has the typical misprints. Should say "Nissan North America" not "Nissan Motor Company, LTD".

That's how they get away with this ****, THEIR bogus company is actually called "Nissan Motor Company, LTD".

Also, the actual OEM sensors come in a little bubble wrap baggy, not just a clear plastic baggy. They also cost between $50-$125 APIECE depending on which revision you are using.

Go ahead and try them out but keep your stock sensors, those will probably either not work, or will fail within a year or two.

Appreciate the headsup, it's a quick swap and if they don't work. I'll go local and grab the "D" version and eat the $100.

Check online vendors like Z1 Motorsports and infinitipartsonline.com, sometimes they have them severely discounted for the previous revision sensors which usually last about 100k miles.

I used the sensor I bought from eBay. Installed, light went away, and power restored. Thanks for your help.

I'm not saying if those sensors are fake or the real deal, but Nissan Motor Company, LTD is how the company is registered in Japan.
