Fuel Line Leak/issue Part #16454

I have a 2006 G35 Sedan 6mt and lately it has been smelling like fuel so I decided to check it out. Came to realize that there was a leak in what I believe is in the evap line on the passenger side in the engine bay next to the catalytic converter. After doing some research it seems to be a fuel connector connecting a hard line to a soft line and the part number is #16454 (says its Fuel Strainer Connecter?) Unfortunately I cannot change the connector because the hard line side of the connector is rotted/rusted out... My question is can this connector be bypassed with a longer soft line connecting to my hard line or this connector has a purpose and is needed?

says part number #16454 for connector

Probably, but it looks like it's just a leaking o-ring. Take the connector apart and replace the o-ring first.

unfortunately its not just the O ring. I touched the line right before the fitting and it crumbled in my fingers :/

Ok then either ebay a new line or you can cut it out and patch it. Just make sure to use fuel INJECTION hose if you're going to just cut it out.

Normal fuel line hose is only rated for like 35-40 psi. Fuel INJECTION hose is usually good for 100psi.

The fuel system runs at 51psi.
