its all about safety and not wasting your *new* parts.
bottom line is that it's better to gun it after you have some miles on that car.
i think it's like a human. you stretch before you run? hahaha i dont know

i got a question tho. is it the fact that you cannot wait til you get 1200 miles or you are just asking extra stuff from your curiosity?

This has been debated on numerous forums and on various threads here. It's always best to play it safe and at least follow the manufacturer's recommended guidelines.

Remember that those that thrash their engines from the start may not be that interested in long-term life.

I know that I would probably never buy a rental car as many users will have followed "drive it like you stole it" from the get-go.

Something to think about.
