Keyed Battery Cut Off Switch Install
Keyed Battery Cut Off Switch Install
Thought I would share part of my Sunday............
I have been thinking of an easier way to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery, since I seem to be doing this all the time for mod installation and ECU reset....can't remember which thread, but saw a member install a disconnect switch and this looked good to me, so down to the parts store to see what they had in stock....found a keyed battery cutoff switch that can be mounted so the key is accessable in the engine compartment and I dont have to open the battery cover.....also found a grommet that fit the switch and would mount in the battery compartment wall....also purchased one (1) black 12 inch long battery cable, eyes on both ends and one (1) black 15 inch long battery cable, eye on 1 end and post on the other.

I made a paper template of the grommet and taped it to the battery compartment wall.......used tin snips and a dremel tool to make the cutout in the wall.....went slow and took my time to get the shape just right....and protected the car with lots of towels to keep the flying debris from hurting my G
i checked the fit several times with the battery cover in place.......it should seal across the top to keep the air from the engine compartment out of the cabin air intake.......and had to go back and make adjustments to the cutout to get the grommet to sit low enough....being careful not to open the cutout too much so the grommet squeezed in place and fit snug........
next came the wiring, which was pretty straight forward.....had the grounding kit as well and moved the battery wire to the front side of the switch

and here are the finished pics........
now all i have to do is turn the red key (remove it if i want too) and the negative side of the battery is disconnected
could be a security feature as well, cause you can take the key with you.............

Should come in handy, and looks better than most of the disconnects that I've seen.
........but its all good
