Is the spacer as good as the plenum? I wish I could keep it stock looking.

Didnt Infiniti upgrade the plenums for the '05 models? So an aftermarket plenum on an '05 would do very little to no improvments... right?
O inteneded but forgot to mention the spacer as the new seemingly effective alternative to the plenum for a bit less $. As far as improving the 05's - why not. The plenum in the 05 has longer intake runners - I think - which lessens torque and increases HP - I believe.

If I have it backwards the point is that the torque went down a bit and the aftermarket plenums/spacers actually helps this issue on 03-04's - so why not the 05's? There still is a restrictive plenum on the 05 that MAY keep the front cylinders starving for air as the 03 shows in bench flow testing. I don't think the upper plenum changed much so there theoretically could be an improvement - right. The additional ponies in the 05 don't come from the same principals that gave us the crawford toys. More people need to try them and report back...The 05's aren't seemingly tracking better in the 1/4 mile than 03/04 models, yet, so I would think mods could do something for you if you have patience and seek the truth...

I ran my car with just a Crawford Plenum and a K&N Typhoon CAI and I showed 243 rwhp on the dyno and around 230 torque (I can't remember the torque exactly). Stock rwhp, i think, was 228? So do the math. I love both mods for the performance in addition to the vacuum I hear from my CAI that starts at 2500 rpms. I would say that Jotech's dyno yields no results.

Felt or heard? A lot of times, people associate more sound = more power.

P diddy - as far as I can tell you have a good reputation around here and I doubt you got it questioning tried and true products. No Plenum hating here k. The plenum is one of the most effective out there without cats. If the motordyne spacer works, wouldn't the same principals apply to the plenum? There are plenty of places for skepticism and doubt regarding sound and lack of substance when modding - the plenum is not one of them - I don't even hear plenum lovers bashing the concept of the spacer of whether it actually works...come on

was that on the same dyno?

The top part of the intake manifold (plenum) is the same across all the years, its the lower portion that changed by the intake runners being modified. I have the Crawford plenum on my 05 and it did make a difference

"Farty cars" I tell my wife when she asked wtf just flew by, in a drag race I never knew I was having with a 1994 civic with a bodykit that has chunks missing and painted primer color.

No, I was just generalizing on what the average may be, thus the question mark. The 243 was the only time I've dynoed my car, but I was throwing it out there since it was said that plenums "yield almost no results". I have an '04 6MT Coupe and I don't think the entire gain would be made on the CAI. Just some thoughts to chew on.

At least they're primered... and not all different colored, gell coated fiberglass kits! I have a fixed up civic... but its not one of those typical crappy fart can hondas from some teeny bopper high school kid that watches too much F&F. These idiots completely ruined the image for all honda tuners!

SixFive and PhxBlue, thanks for clearing up the plenum/spacer issue for the '05 models.

No worries bud. I hope you 05ers will keep chasing results and determining what works on the revised motor. It helps the 03-04ers figure out what to do to keep up with the times and determine how this thing works and reacts to mods.

I used to own honda acura myself but never modded until now. Don't worry about the idiots that killed it..they are attacking nissan and infiniti cars all over the world especially after the G's roll out of 24-36 month leases and into the hand of younger buyers. Screw em

Here is what I believe: I believe these “bolt-on’s” are best utilized by combinations. That is, air going in, match’s air going out. In other words, there should be a balance between intake and exhaust. If this balance is out of place, you may have problems. Specifically, air/fuel ratios, loss of torque, closed-loop, etc. I can tell you that I my car was dyno’ed at 253WRHP. After installing the Motordyne spacer and JWT cams, I gained 24RWHP. I ran at least six runs and all were in the 270’s… In addition, I believe some type of air/fuel management is paramount with all these add-on’s.
