Re: 3000 mile whine list

I have 6600 on mine and all I have had is the A/C issue fixed. Nothing has fallen off or anything. I have noticed that the cold has a big effect on the tire balance, however.

Re: 3000 mile whine list

Im a bit past 4000 miles and the only problem that I have with my G is the driver seat squeaking/movment. I spoke with the service dept and they said they would take care of it and I should call and let them konw so they can reserve me a temporary ride.

U have a lemon!

Re: 3000 mile whine list

my sister sat at the back seat and she complained that the car was rattling at 80 mph...... said her face was flabbering....
is it because of the suspension, the tires, or both....?

Re: 3000 mile whine list

I'm getting the same rattling. Seems like it's coming from the passenger side...at first, thought it was a blown speaker...then realized it's something vibrating when going over bumps (no matter how fast or slow, even the 'drunk bumps' on the freeways) or playing music w/ heavy bass. Since I'm always driving, I can't get over to the passenger side to hear what exactly is causing it...sounds like something is up w/ the door panel or something. Anyone else...?

Re: 3000 mile whine list

If you have excessive car shaking and rattleing in cold weather, make sure you check your tire pressure and inflate to proper psi......probably 32 psi
i dont have my g35 yet but in my current car (v6 camry w/ custom wheels) i noticed that the tire pressure was down to 26psi and my steering wheel was vibrating like crazy at high speeds, so i inflated them properly and seems fine so far (its been 3 days so far)..

Re: 3000 mile whine list

Well...it's not very cold here in San Diego...got my car back from the dealer today, they said that the rattling was from a "cd in the glove box" and that it was fixed. How f***ing dumb do they think I am. Drove off the lot with it and within 10 seconds, heard the rattle again. Sounds like the speaker isn't fully fastened in...but they probably didn't even bother to check that considering they assume I'm some kind of idiot who wouldn't think to take things out of my glovebox and door panal before taking it in to the dealership...once again, another solid review from Discover Infiniti...

I'm on a lease also and I was wondering what kind of deal did you get? My car was 33,500 MSRP put 2k down @495 for 47 months. 15k mile a yr does this sound about right for paying sticker?

Re: 3000 mile whine list

Hi, hoshtaylor. Is the sound a rattle or a resonating sound like a "boing"? My G does not have the premium package so the passenger seat has the manual seat back adjustment. This consists of a rather long stamped steel arm with a plastic handle. The handle was somewhat loose on the arm. When driving over a surface with repetitive bumps, like Bott's Dots, this assembly would resonate but sounded more like a boing than a rattle. I cured it by wedgeing a piece of stiff foam between the handle and the seat. This is a temporary fix as the foam falls away when someone adjusts the seat back. I think the permanent fix will be glueing the foam to the handle.

Re: 3000 mile whine list

Hi, RamboRami. The label on the door sill of my G sedan recommends 30 PSIG all-around no matter the driving speed or the passenger/luggage loading. This is different from our BMW/Audi/VWs which recommend different tire pressures for different driving conditions. I took my G to the local dealer to have the balance checked. They said they rebalanced them but there was no chamge in the vibration on the freeway. (Later, I questioned the service advisor about this and he admitted that their balancing machine was defective and they would have to take the car to a local tire store, Big O Tires, to have them rebalanced! I am not making this up.) Anyhow, that rebalence did not work. I get the car home and checked the tire pressures the next morning - about 31 PSIG all around. I pumped them up the 33 PSIG and the difference was remarkable. I tried 35 PSIG but the ride was too harsh at low speeds - this is with sport suspension and the Badyear GS-Ds. So, 33 PSIG seems to be the "sweet spot".

I am not too worried about this because the roads in my area, East Bay, are not well maintained - like in decades. However, there is Bear Creek Road. Several miles of up/down, high speed corners, banked/off camber, and a smooth surface. I thought my Ducatis were wonderful on this road but the G is better - I can listed to the CD.

BTW, I was given two different I35s as loaners while my G was in the shop. These are nice cars! They are quiet and smooth - probably because they do not have sport suspension.

Re: 3000 mile whine list

I'll tell you this, I had something similar in my coupe. I wil going nuts. Turned out to be the seatbelt latch on the passenger side banging against the door randomly. To test I latched the passenger seatbelt & it immediately went away, now I just have to adjust that little extension arm & the belt latch so it not as close to the door. I have ZERO shaking or vibration...

Geeman: Did you get the vibration fixed?
Hoshtaylor: The rattle in the doors could be loose speaker mounting screws (if the you havn't already discovered that) Gsedanman-Garnet Fire Sedan ('till Jan 7, then D/G Coupe)
Edited by gsedanman on 01/06/03 01:51 AM.
