Re: Interesting Observation

Randy, I've checked my ESM to no avail. No mention of that kind of 'cut-out'. First I've heard of that happening. Did it just cut-out at the high rpms, and come back on at low rpms?
Maybe this happened to someone else?...................

Re: Interesting Observation

I've heard of cars that cut the A/C compressor under full-throttle, but those were usually 4-bangers that needed the help.

Re: Interesting Observation

The compressor did that on my SHO and my stang, and now on my g35. This also happens on a friend's M5. When it's working hard to cool you down and you really step on it, I've not been in a car that didn't experience a cutoff of the cool air for at least a second or so. Most people don't notice it, and the conditions have to be right for it to occur (ie. car is hot, 80 or so outside, AC is on full, etc.), but in my experience, under certain conditions most cars will experience it. Nothing to be worried about... just the car setting its priorities.

Re: Interesting Observation

My roomate's M-Roadster also does this, I have never noticed it in any of the other cars I have driven hard (all non-performance sedans or SUVs tho), I suspect this is a performance car thing. I agree with GeoBau, nothing to worry about, it makes sense to kill the AC as it robs a good amount of power from the engine when the compressor is running.

Re: Interesting Observation

Protects the AC compressor from over-revs and adds HP. Overall, a good deal.
