Custom gauge pod in driver's defrost vent. *PICS*

Gauge: Defi D-gauge
Material: stock vent, fiberglass, body filler, primer, flat black paint.

I angled the gauge down and toward the driver.

Hope you like the pics.

Sweet! I am waiting for a genius to replace the clock with a gauge.

here's another pic....better angle, sorry about the camera shake. I had to use a very slow exposure.

One can always adjust the other vent to blow on the window.

Sadly, nothing yet. I only wanted a manifold vacuum gauge, but Defi doesn't make one in the D-Gauge series.

I went with the D-gauge because of the amber backlighting and the clip-on trim ring.

The trim ring is how I mounted the gauge. If you notice, the gauge is mounted from the back of the pod. I molded the trim ring into the vent. That way, the gauge slides in from behind to give it a clean, professional look.

No, I'll probably do something else later. I just wanted to have the vacuum within easy eye shot of the rest of the gauges.

Looks cool but whats the point? No performance mods? What ar you monitoring???

Or are you preparing for something??? Like a S/C or Turbo?

Monitoring engine vacuum is not a waste of time.

At the very least, you can use it to get the best fuel economy.

On the performance side of things, you can monitor restrictions on the intake side of the engine. for example, If your TB started sticking and not opening up all the way, you'd probably be able to tell.

I'm sure there are others things, but that is what first comes to mind.

I was working on that a while back. I was going to convert the clock to digital and then have scrolling menus for boost and A/F. However, I couldn't source a suitable LCD screen, so I gave up

The guage looks good! Much better (IMO) then a pillar mount, as there isn't much pillar room in the G. I would love to see where you choose to mount more guages!

Looks good.. I thought of doing something like that to mount my AF gauge since I already have 3 gauges in my pillar.

Care to fab a new one? I made my pillar myself, it was quite a process... I guess I could do it myself.

Let me know... for a 52mm gauge.
